Copenhagen, 2015 Studio David Thulstrup
The design is focused around a central mirror-clad atrium, which floods all three floors of the residence with natural light. The atrium is lush with specially selected grasses, plants and a feature tree which is visible from all floors – creating a central and bright oasis.
Completed in September 2015.We were involved in ideation, planning, concept and design development of architecture and interior, follow up on construction site and furniture selection. Amongst materials used were concrete, bricks, terrazzo, Dinesen oak, Kvadrat textiles, blackened steel – both plain and perforated. We collaborated with contractor Egeberg Enterprise on the realization of the project. ”

Studio David Thulstrup is an architecture, interior and design practice based in Copenhagen. Through our commitment to working alongside clients, we create innovative architectural solutions where each concept embraces the client’s identity, values and needs. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of international projects for private and commercial clients, with the main focus on fashion retail and residences.
In the spaces we create, we focus on refined design details and rethinking materials out of their conventional form and use. Our international team of architects, interior designers, product designers, 3D visualizers and material experts form a strong creative force of individuals with complimentary experiences and expertise.
Through cultural exchange, experimentation and collaboration with other specialists, we develop customized furniture and materials which create a unique design for our clients.
David Thulstrup, Architect, MAA founded his eponymous studio in 2009 after working in Paris with French architect Jean Nouvel and for architect Peter Marino in New York. In both positions he was responsible for the concept development of a diverse body of work, including residential, retail, leisure and cultural projects.
Since his return to Denmark, David has, together with his team, developed an uncompromising style where design and art – solutions and aesthetics harmoniously meet in order to strengthen and intensify spatial experience, corporate identity and brand awareness. This effect becomes apparent in the studio’s work with the private residencies Peter’s House and Krøyers Plads, the beauty salon Blow in Copenhagen along with multiple retail concepts for clients such as Georg Jensen and J. Lindeberg.
