Purpose of the study is to design two summer homes with guest houses, overlooking the sea and neighboring island of Antiparos. The courtyards constitute the conjunctive element of residences. Wide stairs lead to landings in the large viewing “plateaus”, traversing indoors and outdoors spaces. Planting is enhanced on roofs and intermediate yards.
The basic principles of the whole design procedure are:
The use of the archetypal form of the wallelement familiar in Cycladic landscape, sometimes used as a limit and sometimes as an element of habitation.Adaptation to the environment and dissolution of boundaries between lived and natural spaces. Integration of the interior of the building with the courtyards. The split of bigger volumes with small movements to create courtyards sheltered from the strong northerly winds. In the courtyards mulberries are planted to provide shade. Back yards exist through the whole project and through the large openings viewing to the sea is possible.To avoid the design of a single plane facade. Elongated openings piercing the transverse walls to set the sights and to create spaces with visual continuity.The creation of a residential complex which leaves intact the natural landscape and adapts to the slope of the plot, so that the east side is almost buried.The use of intense Cycladic light. Shades of blue and intense shadows dominate the views. The building is transformed into a viewing machine.

REACT ARCHITECTS
is an office of architectural studies that aims at a theoretical approach on Architecture, through a research oriented procedure.
Architecture is faced as an entirety in collaboration with the all specialities that supplement the constructional and artistic creation. The office studies small and big scale projects, public (libraries – hotels cultural centres landscape design etc.) as well as private (residences-office – exhibition kiosks -shops etc).
Interior design constitutes an important sector in our work. Interior design of residences, office spaces, hotels and shops are some of our field of work.
Our experience with a wide spectrum of projects gives us the advantage of proposing design applications with originality and uniqueness.
We strive to combine archetypes found in Greek architecture with design ideas that meet the demands of 21st century needs. Thus experimenting on an aesthetic vocabulary we create the junction between ideas and construction.
Office Projects has been published in Greek and European magazines. Its founding members have participated in Greek and international competitions gaining awards and discriminations.
Two office projects were included in the‘Best Built Work of the years 2008-2010’ of magazine STRUCTURES on 2011.
The project “Summer houses in Paros” received 5th Place in the‘Best Built Work of the years 2009-2011 of magazine STRUCTURES on 2012.
